The 4-day Rwanda tour is relaxed allowing you to discover the attractions in Volcanoes National Park. The park is located in the Northwestern part of Rwanda about a 3-hour drive from Kigali the capital city. Volcanoes National Park has the highest mountain gorilla population in the Virunga Massif. It is therefore among the best gorilla trekking destinations. Mountain gorilla trekking is the most popular safari activity in the park where you will hike to see them.

In the 4-day Rwanda tour, you will first do the most anticipated gorilla trek meeting the mountain gorillas in their most preferred habitats. Before you go to the forested mountains you will be briefed at the park headquarters about the experience and then be guided by the park rangers. The Hike in Volcanoes National Park is rewarding as you get to see many other wildlife species, especially birds. Mountain gorilla trekking takes 2 to 4 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. Once you get to them you will be allowed to stay in their presence for strictly an hour taking photos and getting to know more about them.

You will then hike to the Dian Fossey tomb as you get to know more about her conservation works. Dian Fossey spent a lot of time in Volcanoes National Park studying and caring for mountain gorillas until she was murdered. She is an icon in Mountain gorilla conservation and hiking to Karisoke where she was based is also rewarding. End the tour with a golden Monkey trek and transfer back to Kigali.

Day 1: Kigali City Tour & Head to Volcanoes National park

Start the day with a brief Kigali city tour to major places of interest visiting the genocide Musuem, local market and others. After the tour you will transfer to Volcanoes national park in a 3 hours drive arriving in the afternoon. You will pass via the twin lakes of Bulera and Ruhondo for a nature walk and sight seeing.

Day 2: Gorilla Trek & Community Visit

On this most anticipated day you will head to the park headquarters early morning after breakfast. You will be briefed about the gorilla trek and then head to the forest in a 2 to 6 hour trek as you see other wildlife species. Once you get to the gorillas stay in their presence for an hour and later be brought back to the park headquarters. In the evening you will take a cultural visit where you will discover more about the Rwandan local culture.

Day 3: Dian Fossey Hike

You will have breakfast and be taken for a briefing about the Dian Fossey hike and then proceed for the hike. You will get to know more about the great conservation works of Dian Fossey. While on the hike you will see a number of wildlife species and enjoy the scenic view of the Virunga massif. You will later return for a transfer to your lodge for a rest plus meals and overnight.

Day 4: Golden Monkey trek & Departure

After breakfast be taken for another briefing about golden monkey tracking after which you will proceed to the forest. You will meet the golden monkeys that are among the rare primate species only living in the Virunga massif. You will see other wildlife species in the park and later return for a transfer back to Kigali for a drop off at the hotel or airport depending on schedule.
