Trip Overview
The 5-Day Southern Tanzania Safari is one of the best of Tanzania's wildlife safaris. The safari explores two major incredible national parks in southern Tanzania. Southern Tanzania is less explored compared to the northern tourism circuit and it is therefore very exclusive. The wilderness and ecosystem in the south are less disturbed which gives you a raw and very authentic safari experience. On this safari, you will see four of the big five mammals and the major big cats including lions, leopards, and cheetahs.
This 5 Days Southern Tanzania Safari starts in Selous currently known as Nyerere National Park. The park is currently Tanzania's and East Africa's largest protected area. The vast size comes with an advantage of wildlife numbers. The park has all the big five mammals present even though elephants and rhinos are not very common. You will spend enough time in the wilderness exploring and seeing the major wildlife there.
From Nyerere National Park you will proceed to Mikumi National Park another diverse national park in the south. The park is home to various wildlife including elephants, zebras, wildebeest, buffaloes, giraffes, and lions among others. While in Mikumi, you will proceed with your explorations as you enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. You will end your 5-Day Southern Tanzania Safari here and be transferred back to Dar es Salaam depending on the schedule. The best time for this Discovery Journeys adventure is in the dry season from June to October when there is minimal rainfall disturbance. You can still travel in the wet season but some roads are muddy and can led to delays.
