Birding Discovery Journeys!

The Uganda birding safari season is setting in, and this is the best time to visit Uganda’s leading birding destination. Uganda is renowned for its primates, including mountain gorillas and chimpanzees. The country, however, has a rich bird life with over 1,000 species, including endemics.

Birding is a niche tourism experience focused on bird habitats, species, and ways of life. There is no better place for a birding safari than Uganda because of its diverse ecosystems. Uganda lies within the tropics with incredible weather that supports different forms of life including bird life.

Below are the highlights of a Uganda birding safari season and what you need to know before you visit.

Uganda Bird Species

Uganda is home to approximately 1100 bird species. This accounts for 11% of the World’s bird species count and 50% of Africa’s bird species. They are evenly distributed in Uganda’s ecosystems including swamps, open savannas, forests, and mountainous areas.
