On the 3-day Uganda gorilla habituation tour, you will visit the southern sector of Bwindi for gorilla habituation. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is located in southwestern Uganda and has the highest mountain gorilla population. The forested National park is very diverse with a number of wildlife. These include chimpanzees, forest elephants, and birds. It is from this diversity that it was listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

The total mountain gorilla population in Bwindi is estimated at over 450 individuals and there are 22 habituated mountain gorilla families. 20 are fully habituated and 2 are under habituation. On this 3-day Uganda Gorilla Habituation Tour, you will therefore participate in the habituation process of the gorillas. In the Gorilla Habituation experience you follow the routine of the mountain gorillas right from their nests where you would have spent their day and follow observing the routine in the wild. The hike on the mountain gorilla habituation experience takes 2 to 4 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. Once you get to them you will spend up to 4 hours in their presence getting to know more about them.

Gorilla habituation experience is strictly done in the southern sector of Bwindi and only 4 slots are available per day. It is therefore very important to book your habituation permit in advance. Also important to note is that only individuals above the age of 15 are allowed to participate in the gorilla trekking and habituation experience. Day 1: Transfer to Southern Bwindi

You will be picked up from your Kampala/Entebbe Hotel for a transfer to Southern Bwindi. The road drive takes about 9 to 10 hours including en route stop overs for photography and a lunch break. In case the drive is long you can opt to fly from Entebbe to Kisoro Airstrip ( 1 hour flight) and from there be picked up by your driver guide for a transfer to your lodge.

Day 2: Gorilla Habituation Experience

In the morning, assemble at the park headquarters for briefing from the park rangers about the dos and don'ts while with the gorillas. Proceed for the memorable adventure in the forest, an activity that may take 2-6 hours depending on the movement of the animals. Meet and stay with the animals for a maximum of 4 hours, then descend to the park headquarters and then to your Lodge for lunch and relaxation.
