In the 7-Day Uganda Birding Journeys, you will explore Mabamba wetlands, the Royal Mile, and Murchison Falls National Park. You will start the birding adventure with a visit to the Mabamba wetlands in Lake Victoria. The wetlands have over 300 bird species and it is the best place to see the shoebill stork. Here you will ride through the swampy waterways as you enjoy the great scenic views of the swamp vegetation and the lake. There are many other bird species you will see here including the grey-crowned cranes, Lesser Jacana, black Egret, and Papyrus gonolek among others.

From the Mabamba swamps, you will take the 7-day Uganda Birding Journeys to Masindi for birding safaris along the Royal Mile. The Royal Mile is an extraordinary birding destination with several birds including endemics to the Albertine Rift. You will bird through the Budongo forest where you will also see several primates including chimpanzees.

After the Royal Mile birding adventures you will enter Murchison Falls National Park again birding through the Budongo forest extension in the park. You will proceed with birding and wildlife safari excursions to the Nile Delta and then to the bottom of Murchison Falls. Uganda birding safaris in National parks enable you to see the major wildlife including giraffes, buffaloes, elephants, and many others. The 7-Day Uganda Birding Journeys adventure is highly recommended for birders and overall wildlife enthusiasts. It is also great for savanna wildlife photography because Murchison Falls National Park has diverse wildlife species including primates.

Day 1: Mabamba Birding Excursion

You will meet your driver guide at the hotel for a briefing and later be taken for birding adventures at Mabamba wetlands. The wetlands are famous for the shoebill stork but also have many other bird species. Discovery Birding Journeys here are done on motorized canoes through the different waterways in the swamp. These also offer impressive sightseeing tours. You will spend 3 to 4 hours here and later be taken back to your hotel. Have a lunch break and later go to the botanical gardens for walking birding tours. Overnight at 2 Friends Hotel / Hotel No.5

Day 2: Transfer to Masindi en route Rhino Tracking (5 hours drive)

After breakfast, you will transfer to Masindi with an en-route stop over at the Ziwa Rhino sanctuary for Rhino tracking. There are also a number of birds at the sanctuary that you will explore and later proceed to Masindi town. Dinner & Overnight at Masindi Hotel

Day 3: Royal Mile Birding Safari

Wake up early for breakfast and be transferred to Royal mile for a birding adventure. You will see a number of birds and primates including red-tailed monkeys, and chimpanzees among others. Later return for a rest at the Hotel.

Day 4: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

You will have breakfast and set off for Murchison falls national park via Kachumbanyobo gate. Get there early for a birding safari in Budongo forest where you will see more bird species and primates. Later proceed to the Northern sector of the park for an evening game drive and birding safari. Dinner and overnight at Pakuba Safari Lodge

Day 5: Nile Delta Boat cruise & Birding Game drives

Head out after having breakfast for a Nile Delta boat cruise along the great River Nile. This boat cruise is very adventurous with a variety of wildlife including birds, hippos, crocodiles, and sometimes elephants that come at the river banks for water. The Nile Delta, in particular, is a birder's haven, and while here you will see the red-billed stork, yellow-footed heron, fish eagles, and if lucky you will see the shoebill stork. Later return to your lodge for lunch. You will spend the afternoon on game drives to see a number of wildlife in the park including birds.

Day 6: Birding Game drives & Bottom of the falls Boat cruise

You will have breakfast and go for game drives where you will see the major wildlife species in the park. The game drive will be keen on birds since it is a birding tour. Later have a lunch break and in the afternoon have a boat cruise to the bottom of the falls. This 2-hour boat cruise is very impressive and gives a lot of bird and overall wildlife viewing opportunities.

Day 7: Departure

After breakfast, you will depart for Kampala with a stopover in Budongo forest for a short guided walk. Later exit the park for a transfer back to Kampala Arriving in the evening for a drop-off at your residence / Hotel or airport for departure depending on schedule.
