The 5-Day Rwanda Tour will enable you to explore Rwanda's major primate parks for chimpanzees and mountain gorillas. You will start the tour by visiting Nyungwe National Park in the southwestern part of the country. Nyungwe is a forested National park with one of East and Central Africa's oldest forests. This forest is home to chimpanzees and 12 other primates and it is also Rwanda's most Important Bird Area.

Nyungwe National Park is the best chimpanzee trekking destination in Rwanda and on this 5-Day Rwanda Tour you will enjoy chimpanzee trekking there. While on the trek you will hike through the forest enjoying the sights and sounds of nature and be able to see other wildlife in the park including some birds. You will conclude your Rwanda wildlife adventures in Nyungwe with a canopy walk where you will get a great panoramic view of the forest, Lake Kivu, and the surrounding areas.

From Nyungwe you will head to Volcanoes National Park in the Virunga Massif area, home to mountain gorillas. Volcanoes National Park is the most visited park in Rwanda and it is not just home to mountain gorillas but golden monkeys, forest elephants, and forest buffaloes among other mammals and various bird species. Here you will trek mountain gorillas and get an opportunity to meet these rare primates in their most preferred habitats. Full Tour Package

Day 1: Kigali City Tour & Head to Nyungwe

You will be picked up from your Kigali Hotel for a Kigali city tour visiting the genocide museum and other places of interest. You will then depart for Nyungwe National park located in southwestern Rwanda with en route stopovers at the Nyanza palace and Butare Musuem. You will also have a stop over for a lunch break and the proceed to Nyungwe arriving in the evening.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking & Canopy Walk

After breakfast you will go for chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe forest where you will meet chimpanzees mans closest primates. You will also see other wildlife species including birds and other primates. In the afternoon you will go for a canopy walk along east Africa's only canopy walkway.

Day 3: Nature walk & Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

You will go for a Nature walk in the forest where you will see a number of birds and other primates in nyungwe forest. You will then return for a transfer to Volcanoes national park arriving in the evening for meals and overnight at your lodge.

Day 4: Gorilla trek & Community Visit

On this most anticipated day you will head to the park headquarters early morning after breakfast. You will be briefed about the gorilla trek and then head to the forest in a 2 to 6 hour trek as you see other wildlife species. Once you get to the gorillas stay in their presence for an hour and later be brought back to the park headquarters. In the evening you will take a cultural visit where you will discover more about the Rwandan local culture.

Day 5: Golden monkey Trek & Departure

After breakfast be taken for another briefing about golden monkey tracking after which you will proceed to the forest. You will meet the golden monkeys that are among the rare primate species only living in the Virunga massif. You will see other wildlife species in the park and later return for a transfer back to Kigali for a drop off at the hotel or airport depending on schedule.
